This particular example is one of only 700 produced using original percussion actions fitted with newly fabricated Springfield Armory fabricated parts. The matching serial number is marked on the left side of the barrel and upper tang. The buttstock has an "ESA" cartouche on the left side. The buttplate tang is marked "US." It features standard Model 1870 trapdoor style sights, slotted cleaning rod, and sling swivels on the front barrel band and bottom of the butt. Includes a standard socket bayonet.

Very good with mostly bright polished barrel and furniture, light gray patina on the bayonet, strong refinished case colors on the action components, some minor oxidation, light marks and scratches, and crisp markings. The wood is also very good as lightly sanded and revarnished with a crisp recut cartouche and minor scratches and dings. Mechanically fine.
