Description:

Manufactured in 1960. The included letter from Advisory Director Bob H. Bailey of the Former Texas Rangers Foundation indicates he traded this revolver to Charles Hudson and that it was formerly "carried by Special Texas Ranger James 'Jimmy Dee' Delesdernier of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. . .also included is his Special Ranger badge." James Dernier (1931-2004) served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and then worked in law enforcement for 33 years including as a Special Texas Ranger and investigator for the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association handling agricultural crime cases and as chief deputy for the Bexar County Sheriff's Department which mainly covers San Antonio. The revolver has scroll and punch dot engraving, gilt small parts, "JIMMY DEE" inscribed on the right side of the barrel, "SPECIAL" at the top of the back strap, and "TEXAS RANGER" down the back strap. The grips are by Altamont. It has been tuned to have a very light trigger pull. The badge is marked "TEXAS AND SOUTHWESTERN/CATTLE RANCHERS ASSN" on top, "TEXAS" with the individual letters between the points of a star marked "21," and "SPECIAL RANGER" at the bottom. The "21" on the Texas Ranger Badge is a reference to the 21 District in which James Dernier worked as a Ranger that includes San Antonio and the surrounding region.

Rating Definition:

Very good as embellished and chrome plated with traces of original gold on the small parts, 95% of the plating elsewhere, crisp markings and engraving, minor flaking, flash marks and drag lines on the cylinder, and some spots of slight oxidation. The grips are very good with minor handling and storage marks. Mechanically fine. The badges is good with some flaking and aged patina.
