The chopper lump Krupp steel barrels feature a smooth concave rib marked "3 1/2 IN CARTRIDGE" on the underside, hooded ramp front sight, three leaf rear sight (two folding, one fixed) graduated to 300 yards on a matte quarter rib with engraved flourish, "CHARLES BOSWELL MAKER" on the left, "126 STRAND. LONDON. W.C." on the right, with doll's head extension and extractor. The London nitro proofed barrel flat is marked "CORDITE 80-480 MAX/C. BOSWELL/450EX." The receiver, break lever, trigger guard and forearm hardware feature attractive engraved scrollwork, and all sides of the receiver and trigger guard feature fine dangerous game engraved scenes. The side clipped action has double triggers and manual tang safety with silver inlaid "SAFE" and removable firing pin discs. The lower tang, barrels and forearm hardware are numbered to gun. The checkered pistol grip stock features a horn grip cap, blank initial oval and solid rubber recoil pad. Length of pull is 14 inches, weight 11 lbs. 2 oz. The brass cornered oak and leather case features a reproduction Boswell label on the interior of the lid and brass hardware and contains an empty RCBS 450 Nitro Express cartridge box, brass casings used as snap caps and oil bottle. Fine. The barrels retain 95% plus thinning refinished blue. The remaining metal surfaces have an overall smooth gray gun metal patina. The refinished wood is fine with minimal handling evidence and crisp recut checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good with minor-moderate handling/storage wear.
