Description:

This model was manufactured around 1876 to 1891, and this rifle was manufactured after the reorganization of the company in 1881 given the two-line Marlin Firearms Co. and patent marking on the left side of the frame. It was evidently special ordered given the unusual combination of features. It has a golden Beach combination front sight, no rear sight or dovetail on the barrel and instead a dovetail in the top of the frame with a filler block and a peep sight fitted on the upper tang, "45 Govt" on top of the barrel at the breech, ramrod pipes and a wooden ramrod, an attractive flame figure Schnabel forearm, double set triggers, loop lever, attractive feathered figured buttstock, and steel rifle buttplate. Matching serial numbers are found on the bottom of the barrel, tail of the forend, bottom of the frame, front of the stock wrist, and underside of the buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 60% original blue finish, 20% original case colors, minor oxidation, mottled patina, and crisp markings. The wood is very good with light scratches and marks from use, highly attractive figure, and minor edge wear. Mechanically excellent.
