Description:

Originally manufactured in 1929 and subsequently custom converted to a sporting style rifle. Ramped beaded blade front and no rear sights on the star gauged barrel marked "ABERCROMBIE & FITCH NEW YORK, NEW YORK" on top. Standard markings on the receiver with a Griffin & Howe style side scope mount with Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10 scope, jewelled bolt, extractor, and follower, Lyman receiver sight base, Winchester Model 70 style safety, knurled round knob bolt handle, and double set triggers. The floorplate and trigger guard have been elaborately relief engraved with fine scroll and a bear in forest scene. Checkered one-piece pistol grip stock with schnabel forend, engraved trapdoor blue steel grip cap, silver initial plaque marked "TMC", and checker board pattern engraved blue steel buttplate with trapdoor containing the adjustable ladder of the Lyman receiver sight.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as period custom embellished with 95% of the high polish blue finish remaining, some light edge wear, and handling marks overall. The wood is also very fine with attractive figure, mostly crisp checkering, and some small dings. Mechanically excellent.
