This rifle was originally a New Model 1865 percussion carbine and has been converted to a heavy barrel hunting/target rifle. The modern custom barrel has a globe front sights, taps for scope mounting, a "crown/P" proof mark visible on the bottom followed by "1879" and "US/*," modified original percussion lock with standard patent marking, standard patent marking on the left side of the frame, tang mounted peep sight, custom double set triggers, smooth forearm, and checkered pistol grip stock with checkered steel shotgun style buttplate.

Very good as custom modified and rebarreled with a plumb brown blend of blue finish and patina along the barrel, strong blue finish on the trigger plate, a mottled mix of fading original case colors and gray patina on the remaining components, some pitting on the action, some minor chips and dents on the wood along with two filled holes, and general mild scratches and marks. Mechanically fine (trigger must be set first).
