Winchester Model 12 Trench Gun manufactured circa 1943. The shotgun has the Winchester commercial blue finish with oil-finished walnut stock and forearm. The stock has a standard Winchester black, checkered hard rubber buttplate with the Winchester logo in the center. The shotgun has a cylinder bored, 20 inch, takedown barrel and is fitted with a late pattern four hole heat shield/bayonet lug. Sling swivels are mounted on the stock and bayonet lug. The right side of the receiver is roll-stamped with the "U.S." property mark followed by the "Shell & Flame" insignia. A "Shell & Flame" insignia is stamped on the top of the barrel just ahead of the takedown collar. The ordnance final inspection mark, which consists of a rectangle enclosing initials "G.H.D." above a small Ordnance Corps Escutcheon, is stamped on the left side of the stock. The Winchester legend and model designation "Model 12-12 G.A.- 2 3/4 Cham./Cyl." are stamped in two lines on the left side of the barrel. The serial number, "1010989", is stamped across the bottom of the receiver and takedown collar. A small number of unissued Model 12 Trench Guns were released by the army in the early 1990s under the Title 10 program. Most of these were previously owned by the U.S. Navy. This shotgun appears to be one of the Title 10 guns.

Near new in as-issued condition. The shotgun retains 98% of the original commercial blue finish. The stock has 98% of the original oil finish with a few very minor storage marks. The final inspector mark on the left side of the stock is in almost perfect condition. This is the finest Winchester Model 12 Trench Gun ever offered for sale by Rock Island Auction Company. It would be nearly impossible to find a better example of this scarce and very desirable WWII Winchester Model 12 Trench Gun.
