Description:

Manufactured in October of 1942, this rifle is the former property of noted Garand expert Scott Duff, who wrote an article about it for Volume 20, Issue 3 (Summer 2006) of the GCA Journal (included), where it was the "featured rifle" of the issue. In discussing the rifle, Duff notes that a contact attributed the stock markings as being from a "Special Sale", presumably by the British government or the Ministry of Defense, and that it lacks the Birmingham proofs typically seen on Lend-Lease Garands that has been returned to U.S. Army inventory. Blade front and peep rear sights, with a locking bar and "BATTLE RANGE" elevation drum, and a barrel marked "W", "P" and "S-A-9-42 (inverted)" on the chamber. The bolt, trigger housing, hammer, safety and uncut op rod are Springfield components, as is the "SA/E.McF" stock. The right side of the stock bears two stamps, "(broad arrow)/S" and "(broad arrow)/S/(broad arrow)", with the latter repeated on the front handguard as well.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 97% plus of the original blue finish, showing some bright edge/cycling wear, as well as some light handling marks. The stock is very fine, with scattered small dents and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
