Description:

This is an example of a desirable Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) manufactured by Group Industries of Louisville, Kentucky. This example of the M1918A2 is a very fine reproduction of the WWI or WWII Browning Automatic Rifle using a combination of new and military surplus components fitted to one of their newly manufactured all steel receivers. The original BAR was one of the first light squad automatic machine guns and proved to be extremely effective at the squad level and saw limited use at the end of WWI. It was heavily used during WWII and all the way through Korea and into Vietnam by some Vietnamese units. The top of the receiver is marked: "BROWNING AUTOMATIC RIFLE/U.S. CAL 30 M1918A2/MANUF'D BY GROUP INDUSTRIES/00150". It has the standard blade front sight and the folding ladder adjustable rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked with the drawing number "6508769", with the front end stamped "HS/12-53". The left side of the receiver has a three-position selector for semi-auto/full-auto/safe . It has the early WWI pattern all walnut stock and forend. It is complete with an original bipod, carrying handle and green web sling. Magazine absent.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% of the medium gray parkerized finish overall, edge and high spot wear, and thinning on top of the receiver and breech end of the barrel. Except for a 2 inch crack on the right side of the buttstock at the wrist, the wood components are all in excellent condition with only very minor handling marks. A really great looking example of Browning 1918A2 BAR type machine gun. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
