Colt's Cloverleaf model was one of their first two revolvers specifically designed for metallic cartridges and pre-dates the famous Colt Single Action Army and the Open Top. This example was manufactured in 1871, the first year of production, and is marked with the two-line address between Maltese crosses on the top of the barrel and matching serial numbers on the barrel and butt. Includes a hardwood case with brass lock and screws and an oil bottle.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retains 95% original nickel finish with the balance either a bright gold or dark brown patina, concentrated mainly at the muzzle, front cylinder face, and crevices. The grips are very fine with most of the original varnish and a few light scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with numerous light scratches and dings and strong varnish overall.
