This is a fairly rare example of a Nationalist Chinese 60 mm mortar that is complete with an original base plate, tripod and aiming sight. This is actually an identical copy of the U.S. M2 60 mm mortar as well as the tripod, base plate and aiming device. The U.S. version was first fielded during WWII, and it proved to be so successful it was continually used through Korea and even into Vietnam at the company level. They were very compact, lightweight and had an effective range of 1500 meters. Almost every other country in the world also employs a very similar type weapon. This example is fitted with an aluminum identification plate, all marked in Chinese on top of the barrel clamp of the tripod. The rear of the tube and end cap are both correctly marked with serial number "14311" and also proofed with the National Chinese Arsenal symbol of a larger circle with a cross inside. As noted, it is complete with its original base plate that is numbered "8335" and is stamped with a small Chinese proof mark. It also comes with an original Chinese copy of the original U.S. M4 aiming sight for the mortar that is complete with the M14 leather carrying case. The sight is unmarked; however, it is an exact copy of the U.S. model. It is complete with the original leather muzzle cover/carrying sling.

Fine condition with 75% of the arsenal green painted exterior finish remaining overall with on the various components, tube, tripod and base plate, showing light chipping and flaking overall from handling and be displayed.
