Description:

According to the included factory letter, this revolver was part of a 10-piece shipment to Wolf & Klar in Ft. Worth, Texas on September 1, 1922. The grips are "Not listed", with the caliber, length and finish verified, and there is no mention of engraving or embellishment; Wolf & Klar was known to do their own in-house decoration, and the style of the workmanship on this revolver lines up well with recorded examples. A noted Forth Worth institution, Wolf & Klar was a noted dealer of both Colt and Smith & Wesson firearms. Active into the 20th century, a number of noted Prohibition-era gangsters are known to have carried and used their firearms; mob gunsmith and "Colt Machine Pistol" inventor H.S. Lebman sourced many of his base firearms there, with John Dillinger, George "Baby Face" Nelson, and "Pretty Boy" Floyd among the end-users. Fixed sights and standard markings overall, with zig-zag line engraving on multiple components, mainly border work, line accents, and floral-enhanced scrollwork, the latter especially prominent on the frame. Matching numbers are present on the right side of the grip frame. The right grip panel is smooth pearl, and the left panel is a carved steer head with ruby eyes.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as Wolf & Klar custom embellished, with 80% of the nickel finish, showing some flaking around the engraving and cylinder stops, mild frosting and scattered handling marks. Light rubbing is visible on the sides of the muzzle. The grips are fine, slightly undersized, with a few light scratches and fine detail in the carving. Mechanically excellent.
