In 1936, the third year of Mauser Luger production during the build-up to WWII, the Germans discarded the letter code system and went back to just stamping the plain date on the chamber. Blade front and notch rear sights, "1936" on the chamber, "S/42" on the toggle link, "droop-wing eagle/63" proofs on the extension and barrel and "eagle" firing proofs on the barrel, extension and breechblock. Straw finished small parts, niter blue springs, pins and screws, checkered grips, and a blue-finished magazine with alloy base. Including the magazines (both bright with alloy bases, the spare stamped "+") external numbers are matching. Included with the pistol is a 1936 dated Genschow & Co. holster, marked "WaA112" on the rear, and a blued steel takedown tool with a faint "eagle" stamp.

Very fine, with 85% plus of the original blue finish, showing some edge wear and handling marks overall. The grip frame shows a mixed gray and brown patina, a gray patina on the sides of the muzzle and some shallow pitting on the side plate and left frame rail. 70% of the original straw colors remain. The grips are also very fine, with some dings and flat spots. The very good holster shows some light scuffing and wear. Mechanically excellent.
