Description:

Manufactured in 1906 and subsequently embellished and customized as a beautiful yet compact defensive piece. The barrel is shortened and the ejector housing deleted as in the "Sheriff's Model" SAA, and the grip frame has been shortened into a "bird's head" configuration with a slight "horn/hump" for the web of the hand on top of the back strap, similar to the 1877 Model double action Lightning/Thunderer revolver. Fixed sights, with "45 COLT" on the left side of the barrel and the two-line Hartford address on the underside, the two-line, three-date patent marking on the left side of the frame next to the circled Rampant Colt, and matching numbers on the grip frame. Over 80% of the surface is covered in high quality engraving, with prominent factory style punch-dot backed scrollwork, floral accents on the recoil shield and back strap. The engraving is signed "CB" on the front of the frame, which is possibly the signature of Charles Baker of Arizona. The grip is fine one-piece hardwood, with sharp checkering.

Rating Definition:

Fine as custom built/embellished, with 80% of the gold finish, showing areas of bright/gray steel, with a few light handling marks. The grips are very good, with some dents and scuffs. The hammer sits low in the safety notch, otherwise mechanically fine.
