The included Colt factory letter identifies this revolver by its serial number as an experimental prototype revolver with a matted solid rib barrel and kept by the Colt factory. The letter also confirms the caliber, barrel length, blue finish with casehardened hammer, checkered varnished walnut grips with gold plated Rampant Colt medallion inlays, and furnished without maker/model markings. The revolver has a serrated ramp front sight and an adjustable rear sight.

Excellent. The revolver retains 98% original blue finish with some minor thinning on the trigger guard and some minor muzzle wear with some minor scratches and a strong cylinder drag line. There is some minor oxidation on the barrel rib, muzzle, top strap and back strap. The grips are very fine with some minor dings and scratches, along with an area of unknown residue on the right panel. There are a few minor nicks in the overall crisp checkering.
