Manufactured in 1882 for the British market as shown by the London proofmarks on the barrel and cylinder and the "COLT PT. F. ARMS MFG. CO./HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A./DEPOT 14 PALL MALL LONDON." barrel marking. The barrel also features a German silver blade front sight and the etched "COLT D.A. 38" marking (both only found early in production). The frame has the standard patent marking. All the serial numbers match, including the underside of the grips (hand marked). It comes with an English case with the initials "A.E.C." on the lid escutcheon, a cartridge block of ammunition (no headstamps), oil bottle, brushes, bore rod, and key.

Excellent with 95% plus original blue and vivid casehardened finish, minimal light spotting, minor edge wear, and light marks and scratches. The grips are very fine with mild handling and storage wear. The case is very fine and has minor storage wear including some chipping at the edges and staining of the lining.
