Description:

The accompanying factory letter lists this rifle with a no. 5, 32 inch barrel in 40-90 straight caliber (40-90 Sharps) and set trigger when received in the warehouse on February 10, 1894 and shipped on February 12. The rifle is fitted with windage adjustable globe front, elevation adjustable rear and Vernier tang peep sights. The top barrel flat has the two-line address and caliber marking ("40-90 S.S."), and the lower barrel flat is marked "5." The lower tang has the patent marking and serial number. Mounted on a smooth forearm with ebony Schnabel tip insert and straight grip stock with crescent buttplate. Comes with a box of UMC 40-90 cartridges.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 60% plus original blue finish thinning to a brown. The remaining surfaces retain 40% plus original case colors. The wood is fine with some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
