Manufactured in 1884 as a third model (dust cover guide rail integrally machined as part of the receiver and a dust cover with rear serrations). Dovetail blade and folding ladder sights on a barrel marked with the two-line address/patent dates information and "CAL 40-60." "40-60" is repeated on the cartridge elevator. "MODEL 1876" flanked by floral flourishes is marked on the upper tang. The action has a single set trigger. The straight grip stock is fitted with a solid crescent buttplate.

Fine, retaining 30% plus original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. 40% of original nitre blue remain on the loading gate, and traces of original case colors remain on the hammer and lever. The buttplate has a mixture of gray gunmetal patina and spotting. The wood is also fine with some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
