Manufactured in between 1942 and 1947 with standard markings and features and a ribbed shotgun buttplate. The stock has since been painted black and branded in two places with "DPS". The carbine is listed by serial number on a Texas Department of Public Safety inventory card which shows initial issue to an E.R. Moore of Polk County and later issuance to an E.L. Oliver of "Co. A. Houston". Newspaper articles from within Ranger Company A's designated territory provide evidence of a Ranger E.L. "Eddie" Oliver who was heavily involved in the investigation of the murder of a pharmacist in 1949 near Galveston, Texas.

Very good, retains 60% original blue finish with the balance a smooth grey patina. There is some scattered wear and handling marks consistent with use. The wood shows some moderate wear to the added black paint as well as numerous minor handling marks consistent with use. Mechanically excellent.
