According to the included letter from arms historian Roe S. Clark, the factory records lists this rifle with a 26 inch round barrel in .303 caliber, fancy American walnut pistol grip stock, "B" checkering, shotgun buttplate and factory "B" engraving when shipped on November 18, 1910, to Chicago dealer von Lengerke and Antoine. The rifle has a combination Beach front sight, filler block in the rear sight slot and Lyman tang peep sight. The engraving on the receiver consists of scrollwork surrounding circle panel game scenes. Sling eyelets are found on underside of the barrel and buttstock. The stock is fitted with a hard rubber Savage buttplate.

Excellent, retaining 95% bright original high polish blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance. 97% original case colors remain on the lever. The wood is very fine with some minor dings and scratches and crisp checkering overall. A small chip is missing on the buttplate near the toe. Mechanically excellent. This documented factory engraved Model 1899 will make a great addition to any Savage rifle collection!
