The accompanying factory letter lists this rifle as chambered in .250-3000 Savage caliber when received in the warehouse on January 25, 1915, and shipped on November 23, 1915, to Von Lengerke & Antoine, Chicago, Illinois. The factory records also indicate a work order on this rifle for additional work which could reference the engraving. The rifle's features are consistent with the "F" Grade mounted on a "C" Grade stock. The engraving was likely done by Enoch Tue, who worked at Savage from 1901 to 1926. The receiver features near full coverage scroll engraving with finely detailed game scenes on both sides. Three holes are tapped on top of the receiver. The rifle is fitted with a pinned blade front sight, Marble filler block in the rear sight dovetail, and tang peep sight. The bolt is jeweled. The highly figured forearm and perch belly pistol grip stock feature fancy fleur-de-lis checkering. The stock has a hard rubber grip cap and serrated steel shotgun buttplate.

Excellent, retaining 90% plus original blue finish with thinning to gray on the balance. 60% original case colors remain on the lever. The wood is very fine with some minor dings and scratches and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. A wonderful example of a factory engraved Savage Model 1899!
