The fancy grain forearm and pistol grip stock are checkered in Grade "B" style. The buttstock has a grip cap and serrated iron buttplate. Comes with a .410 caliber barrel and takedown case. According to consignor notes, this "rifle was reported to have been made for the president of the aircraft manufacturer Fairchild-Hiller, an avid African big game hunter." Founded in the mid 1920s, Fairchild had several name changes throughout its existence before becoming defunct in 2003. The name Fairchild-Hiller was created in 1964 after the company purchased Hiller Aircraft.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 95% plus original blue finish showing slight loss at the muzzle and thinning to brown mostly on the takedown collar and buttplate. The .410 barrel retains 95% plus original blue finish. 99% vivid original case colors on lever. The wood is excellent showing some minor handling evidence and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine showing some scattered corner/edge wear and some high spot wear on the lining.
