Manufactured in 1916 and subsequently embellished. Near full coverage relief engraved scrollwork on a stippled background appears on the receiver, lever and takedown collar. The scrollwork extends to the rear barrel section, surrounding the "SAV. 303" marking. The left side of the receiver has a silver inlaid game scene. Fitted with Lyman sights (dovetailed beaded blade and tang peep), jeweled bolt and sling eyelets. The forearm has multi-point checkering, and the straight grip stock has checkered flats, fancy wrist checkering and Savage hard rubber buttplate.

Very fine as professionally embellished. The rifle retains 98% of the blue finish with "W" hand marked on the receiver (left side) and some minor scratches. An extension has been added to the barrel which has also been threaded on the inside. The buttplate is missing a minor chip at the toe. The wood is fine with some minor scratches and dings and some blemishes in the checkering. Mechanically excellent.
