Description:

This 1860s-1870s rifle is marked "J. HENRY/& SON" on the lock and has fixed blade and notch sights, double set triggers, a pewter forend cap, rawhide repair on the wrist, and brass tacks on the butt. J. Henry & Son supplied rifles for the fur trade as well as to the U.S. government for use as gifts and annuities.

Rating Definition:

Fair overall with dark brown patina and moderate pitting, no visible barrel markings, partially obscured lock marking, separating barrel rib, long sliver absent from the forend on the right, minor cracks, and gaps at the butt. Mechanically fine.
