Description:

The top of the scroll and floral engraved action is signed "A.V./LEBEDA/A/PRAGUE" for the famous Bohemian gunmaker Vincenz Lebeda (1757-1857) of Prague whose shop is known for incredibly detailed engraving and exceptionally high quality arms. Among their clients were Emperor Franz Josef I and Archduke Franz Ferdinandof the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His business was continued on by his son from 1854 to 1888. It is also marked "C. BENEDICT" inside the action. The action and furniture are profusely engraved with floral, scroll, and crosshatch patterns, and the top of the action also has a silver inlay. It features blade and notch sights on the blued barrel, a single set trigger, a horn ball on the release lever, full length walnut Schnabel forearm, nicely figured multi-point checkered walnut buttstock, and a slot on the back of the wrist for fitting a shoulder stock.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 60% of the original blue finish thinning to plum primarily on the reservoir, light gray patina and some pitting on the balance, crisp engraving and checkering, and mild scratches and dings. The forearm is probably a working replacement. Mechanically fine.
