Description:

This is an example of a post-WWI 1920 DWM commercial Navy Luger pistol sold in the U.S. during the late 1920s. Almost all of these post-war commercial Navy Lugers were actually WWI Lugers that were reworked/rebuilt into commercial models using some left over and new made parts. This example is in the desirable Navy configuration. They were sold through several major sporting goods outlets in New York and Chicago and helped generate quick sales for the war ravished German economy. It has the unmarked chamber area and the "DWM" marked toggle with commercial "Crown/N" proofs on the left side of the barrel extension and breechblock only. It is numbered in the commercial style with the full serial number "5910/n" stamped on the front of the frame. It is fitted with the desirable 6 inch Navy barrel that is numbered on the underside with a slightly smaller number with no proofs or indexing mark. It is also fitted with the correct two-position Navy rear sight and a standard front sight. The left side of the barrel extension and breechblock are both stamped with the "Crown/N" commercial proof mark. The last two digits of the serial number, "10", is stamped on the trigger, side plate, takedown lever and rear toggle. It has no German military or Navy acceptance proofs or markings, and the right side of the barrel extension is marked "GERMANY" indicating it was intended for export. It is complete with a nickel plated magazine with a Navy type wooden base that is unmarked.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 98% of the Arsenal refurbished blued finish with only edge and high spot wear. The various smaller parts retain 85% of their straw colors. The grips are in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering overall with some minor wear across the tops of the checkering mixed with a couple minor light pressure dents on the left side. A very fine example of a desirable early post-WWI DWM 1920 Commercial Navy Luger pistol.
