This was the standard WWI German Luger used throughout the war that set the standard for all future production. The chamber is dated "1917", and the front toggle is marked "DWM". The right side of the barrel extension has the three crown over Gothic letter proofs next to the Imperial Eagle proof, which is also stamped on the rear of the barrel and left side of the breechblock. Matching serial number on the frame, barrel extension and underside of the barrel. There is a "droop wing eagle/2" proof and the bore dimension on the underside of the barrel. The partial serial number (44) is marked on various small parts. The top of the rear toggle link is marked with a crown over Gothic letter and "Crown/RC" proof. Sear and magazine safeties (magazine safety disabled), fixed sights, stock lug, nickel magazine with pot metal base marked with the matching serial number and fitted with checkered walnut grips. Complete with a black leather flap holster dated "1941". The magazine has the serial number and starburst over a script "H" on the base and "SCHMEISSER/HAENEL" in an arrow on the spine.

Very fine as arsenal reworked. The pistol retains 95% blue finish showing some muzzle and high point wear and some mild thinning on the grip straps. Most of the original straw color remains on the small parts. The grips are fine with some minor lower edge wear, a few minor dents and sharp checkering. As noted above, the magazine safety has been disabled, otherwise mechanically fine. The markings are clear. The holster is good with flex wear, handling/storage marks and tight stitching.
