The rifle has the standard NM features which include: (1) standard safety, (2) non-serial numbered polished bolt, (3) polished receiver rails and follower and (4) star-gauged barrel. The barrel muzzle is stamped with the Springfield Armory star gauge mark. The receiver has the standard marking "U.S/SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY/MODEL 1903/1248011", and the barrel is roll-marked with the "SA/Ordnance Shell & Flame/6-22" behind the rear sight. The bolt has armory polishing marks overall and it has the early single gas escape hole on the underside with the top of the handle stamped "W L/3". The markings on the safety and magazine cut-off utilize block letters and the face of the rear sight, and the "ON" side of the magazine cut-off, both have the correct bright polished faces. All components have the Springfield Armory dark charcoal black parkerized finish except for the polished bolt body, The lower barrel band and sling swivel are blued. The rear sight base has the semi-gloss black finish found on post-WWI M1903 rifles. The left side of the stock is stamped with a boxed "D.A.L." final Ordnance inspection cartouche. The underside grip area has a single circled "P" firing proof. The stock is correctly not stamped with the rifle serial number. The rifle is complete with a P.J. O'Hare front sight cover and rear sight protector.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 97% of the original finish overall. The stock and handguard are both in excellent condition with clear sharp cartouches and proofs overall showing only a couple minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. A very nice high condition early Springfield Model 1903 NM rifle.
