Description:

Manufactured late in Springfield's last assigned block of post-WWII serial numbers, this rifle was selected to be a Type II National Match rifle. Blade and peep sights, with the former marked "NM/062" and the latter marked "NM" on the staff, "NM" on the right ear, "NM/2" on the left ear, "595" on the peep hood, "NM NHS" on the windage drum and "NI- C" on the elevation drum. The left side of the barrel, underside of the gas cylinder and top of the operating rod are marked "NM", with a Springfield bolt, hammer, trigger housing and relief cut operating rod, and a Springfield "10 54" dated barrel with "P", "L", "(5-pointed star)", "NM" and "DoD Eagle" stamps on the chamber. The stock is glass bedded, with matching numbers in white paint in the op rod channel and on the floorplate, "DoD eagle" and circled "P" cartouches, and a checkered steel buttplate. A white tag is wrapped around the trigger guard, with "MATCHES 1966" visible; pistols and rifles prepared for the National Matches are known to have received these tags with few remaining intact.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus, with 99% of the parkerized finish, showing some high point/cycling wear, minor handling marks. The stock is also excellent, with a few storage dings. Mechanically excellent. These do not come any better!
