Packaged with the sights uninstalled, this rifle retains a set of four anti-corrosion paper wrappings, protecting the muzzle, sling swivels, and the sight mounting block, with a thin paper tube run through the length of the bore; this material would have been applied for long-term storage and shows no evidence of having been removed or reapplied. Smooth pistol grip stock with an aluminum forearm rail and a serrated rubber buttpad. The included shipping box bears labels from CMP South and contains a manual from H&R and a "9-85" dated matching numbered box containing a Redfield Olympic globe front sight and a Redfield Palma peep rear sight in their original (opened) packaging.

The rifle is near new, with a few light handling marks. The wrapping shows edge and high point wear along with a small tear on one section to reveal the serial number but is generally good. The box has been re-taped but is otherwise fair, and the sights appear to be in good order.
