Description:

Colt manufactured approximately 50,000 of these revolvers from 1942 to 1945 for use in WWII. The left side of the barrel is marked "COLT COMMANDO/38 SPECIAL", the top is marked with the two line address/patent dates, and the ordnance bomb is stamped on the upper left side of the frame just behind the cylinder. The Colt triangle "VP" is on the left front of the trigger guard and "M" on the rear. The revolver has the correct smooth trigger and cylinder release and checkered hammer spur. Fitted with checkered walnut grips with silver Colt medallions.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with 90% original gray/green parkerized finish, some small areas of thinning around the grip straps, and slight edge wear at the muzzle and front of cylinder. Grips are also very fine, with well defined crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
