Description:

The factory letter lists this pistol with a 5 inch barrel in .45 caliber, blue finish and type of stocks not listed when shipped to John I. Ney, U.S. Border Patrol, Del Rio, Texas, on October 2, 1935. John Ney (?-1959) was the chief inspector of the U.S. Border Patrol in Del Rio. The city of Del Rio has served as a U.S. Border Patrol station since 1924 when the agency employed two officers. Today, the station has a area of responsibility covering about 30 miles of river border. It has standard Colt markings, checkered trigger, wide checkered hammer spur, checkered arched mainspring housing and floral scroll relief carved grip panels. The initials "RCS" are hand marked on the left side of the frame under the grip, and the initials "RS" are hand marked on the left side of the two-tone "COLT/45 AUTO" marked magazine. Comes with floral tooled holster and magazine pouch made by noted law enforcement holster maker J.C. Madeley, Jr. of Conroe, Texas.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining 60% original blue finish with the balance between smooth brown and gray patinas. The period replacement grips are fine with typical age cracking on the tops and bottoms and crisp carving. Mechanically excellent. The leather accessories are fine and show some flex wear and tight stitching.
