Description:

Manufactured in 1917, this is a fine example of a Colt Government model pistol. The factory letter states it was shipped March 5, 1917 to F. P. Hall Company, Columbus, Ohio in a shipment of 5 guns. The right side of the slide is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 45", and the right side of the frame is marked "GOVERNMENT MODEL/C90717". The left side of the slide is marked with the two-block, two-line patent dates and address of which the words "PATENT" and "DEC" are double stamped (factory error) and the Rampant Colt is marked behind the serrations. The trigger guard is stamped with the Colt "VP" proof and the lower bow is marked "V" which has been freshened. The trigger and flat mainspring housing are smooth, checkered slide stop and thumb safety, unmarked two-tone magazine with a lanyard loop and checkered walnut grips with the diamond pattern around the screws and lanyard loop on the butt.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. 90% slightly faded original blue finish remains on the slide, slight high point thinning and some overall minor handling marks. The frame shows only very minor handling marks with the majority of the wear on the rear mainspring housing. The grips are very fine, the checkering is crisp.
