One of the highest grades offered by Charles Daly, manufactured by the most sought after makers in the Daly line. Dual bead sights on the finely matted rib inscribed "CHARLES DALY DIAMOND QUALITY" in fine gold inlay, 2 3/4 inch chambers, automatic ejectors, Witten Excelsior Steel barrels, and fine scroll engraved accents at the breech. Masterfully executed, deeply incised broad leafy black leaf floral scroll and game scene engraving on the receiver with brilliant gold inlaid bird and dog scenes featuring a pair of woodcock on the right, partridge on the left, and a detailed setter on the underside. The trigger guard is engraved to match with a pair of gold inlaid ducks. Standard German proofs on the water table and barrel flats with the "HAL/crossed pistols" Lindner maker's mark on the bottom of each barrel. Dual triggers, pin cocking indicators, and tang mounted automatic safety. Very nicely figured European walnut splinter forearm and straight grip stock with engraved fittings, fancy scroll borders, blank silver initial oval, and checkered horn buttplate with engraved screw heads. Barrel and stock measurements are: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .728/.732 inch; minimum wall thickness .024/.018 inch; drop at comb 1 9/16 inches; drop at heel 2 5/8 inches; length of pull 14 1/4 inches; weight 8 Lbs.

Exceptionally fine. 95% original blue remains on the barrels with sharp engraving, some light pitting under the forearm, mild edge wear, and crisp markings. The receiver is an attractive gray patina with traces of original case colors on the water table, sharp engraving, and handling marks on the triggers and tangs. The wood is fine as repaired and refinished with a visible repair at the top of the left side of the wrist, crisp freshened checkering, attractive dark figure, and some small dings. Mechanically excellent.
