This rifle was especially commissioned by the U.K. Gunmakers Livery, the oldest trade association in the world, from W.J. Jeffrey to be auctioned as their 2016 Gunmaker Livery rifle. All proceeds of the auction were designated to their gunmaking apprentice program, and it comes from the personal collection of the auction winner. It is marked "The Gunmakers Livery -2016- Charitable Trust" on the left of the barrel. Other markings include "W.J. Jeffery & Co. London. England." on top of the barrel, caliber markings on the right of the barrel and left of the receiver, and gold inlaid caliber marking and serial number on the floor plate and trigger guard respectively. The floorplate has an engraving taken from an 1860s illustration of a Khoikhoi hunter. The rifle was manufactured without sights and is fitted with a finely figured walnut pistol grip stock with multi-point checkering, shadow line cheek piece, sling swivel studs, steel pistol grip cap, the underside of the butt with silver inlaid oval escutcheon engraved with the coat of arms of the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers, and a black line solid recoil pad. Weight 9lbs 0.8 oz. including scope. Includes a full length brass cornered canvas and leather fitted case with W.J. Jeffery & Co. label in the lid and a label in the floor explaining the charitable cause of the rifle, a cleaning rod, leather pouch of cleaning tools, an oiler bottle, and leather case belts. Also included is a Swarovski Habicht 4x32 A Nova scope. The rifle benefited from the work of several leading gunmakers, most notably the engravers David Talent and Thierry Duguet and casemaker Lan Richardson.

Excellent overall, retains 99% original finish with a few light handling marks and some light cycling wear. The wood has some scattered light handling marks and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. The optics are clear. The case is excellent with some scattered light handling/storage wear.
