Description:

Developed following World War I when the Versailles Treaty restricted manufacturing of the 7.92x57mm cartridge, the 8x60 was 2 millimeters longer in the body, 1 millimeter longer in the neck and identical in nearly every other sense making conversion of civilian 7.92 rifles a relatively painless procedure. Hooded ramp blade front sight and a 1000-meter tangent rear sight on the textured solid rib, marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER A.-G. OBERNDORF AM NECKAR" between the sights and "8x60" at the breech. The Oberndorf address is repeated on the left receiver wall in one line, with "crown/B" and "crown/U" proofs on the left side of the ring and on the bolt handle, "crown/G" on the ring, a quick release floorplate and adjustable double set triggers. Checkered pistol grip stock with a Schnabel tip forearm, blue steel grip cap, round inscription panel with "JHC" monogram and a checkered horn Mauser banner buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 95% of the blue finish, showing a plum patina on the bolt, scattered handling marks and light spotting. The stock is fine with some mended cracks on the right side of the buttstock, a small chip behind the trigger guard, minor dents and excellent grain. Mechanically excellent.
