Manufactured in 1883 as a third model (dust cover guide rail integrally machined as part of the receiver and a dust cover with rear serrations). The accompanying Cody Firearms Museum Records Office serial number confirmation lists this rifle with a 28 inch round barrel in express caliber and plain trigger when received in the warehouse on September 9, 1883, and shipped on September 10. Dovetail blade and elevation adjustable buckhorn sights on a barrel marked with the two-line address/patent date marking and "50-CAL." The dust cover is marked "WINCHESTER EXPRESS/.50 CAL 95 GRS." The cartridge elevator is marked "50-90." "MODEL 1876" is marked on the upper tang. The straight grip stock has a trapdoor crescent buttplate (cleaning rod not included).

Very good plus, retaining 30% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. Faded traces of original nitre blue remain on the loading gate, and traces of original case colors remain on the hammer and lever. The refinished wood is good with a series of dings in a circular pattern on the buttstock (right side) and scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
