Manufactured in 1889 with two-line address/King's patent mark and "22 SHORT" on the top barrel flat, model marking on upper tang, and "22 CAL./SHORT" on the cartridge elevator. Dovetailed blade front and elevation adjustable rear sights, non-typical 26 inch barrel, and mounted with a smooth straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration as well as receipt at the warehouse on 16 October 1889 and shipment from the warehouse on 16 January 1890 in order number 8236. Winchester manufactured approximately 19,552 Model 1873s in .22 short and .22 long between 1884 and 1904.

Fine, retains 50% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The original case colors have faded to a smooth grey patina. The revarnished wood has some minor scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent.
