Description:

Manufactured in 1895 per George Madis' serial number range. The accompanying Cody Firearms Records Office serial number confirmation lists this rifle with an octagon barrel in .38-56 caliber, plain trigger, Lyman front sight and half magazine when received in the warehouse on October 28, 1901, and shipped the next day. Standard Winchester markings, Lyman beaded blade front sight, filed down top "buck horns" on elevation adjustable rear sight, and crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 80% bright original high polish blue finish with thinning and high edge wear on the balance. 30% original nitre blue remains on the loading gate. 75% original case colors remain on the hammer and 40% on the lever. The wood is also very fine showing some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
