Description:

Measuring 41 3/8 inches in overall length, this sword features a fine 35 3/4 inch double fuller blade with sharp etching, showing vine work along the spine, scrollwork and martial/patriotic motifs on both sides, and the Horstmann address in 3 etched lines above the right ricasso, with the Horstmann address stamped into the ricasso with Philadelphia on the opposite side. The hilt, inclusive of the grip, is single piece cast brass construction, with floral details on the guard and a faux-rayskin pattern on the grip. A nickel finished iron sheath is included.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The exceptionally fine blade shows mild spotting, with discoloration concentrated at the tip and good detail in the etching. The hilt shows a mixed aged patina, with traces of black paint in the lower areas of the grip, along with mild handling marks. The scabbard is very good, with about half the original finish and a dark brown patina on the exposed iron.
