Description:

47,115 Model 1855 rifle-muskets were manufactured at Springfield Armory between 1857 and 1861, and another 12,158 were produced at Harpers Ferry. They were widely used in the Civil War and first saw action in the Coeur d'Alene War in the Pacific Northwest in 1858. It has the standard markings (1858 on lock and barrel tang) and features for 1858 production.

Rating Definition:

Very good, retains mostly bright finish with applied protective coat and a couple patches of light pitting. Scattered dents visible on both sides of breech. The refinished wood has some scattered minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
