The Model 1819 Hall was the first widely issued military breech loading firearm and the first firearm manufactured with totally interchangeable parts. Many were converted to percussion by the North and the South at the outbreak of the Civil War in an attempt to alleviate weapons shortages. This one is dated "1834" and has been converted to percussion. It otherwise has the standard markings and features.

Rating Definition:

Good, showing mostly a mottled grey-brown patina with some scattered very light pitting. The refinished wood is also fine with minor dings and scratches throughout, a repaired crack in the wrist, and a few small chips along the ramrod channel. Mechanically excellent.
