Description:

Manufactured from 1876 to the 1880s, these large frame single action revolvers were also known as the "Army Revolver." This early production example has an open top frame, scooped cylinder flutes, integral front sight, round hammer and square butt with lanyard swivel. The revolver lacks a caliber marking. The barrel has the standard MH&Co. and Hopkins & Allen markings. The serial number "1172" is found on the butt, and the assembly number "298" is found on the left side of the grip frame, both grip panels, rear cylinder face and barrel lug. Fitted with mottled hard rubber grips.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 85% plus original nickel finish with no sign of being fired. There is thinning/flaking of the plating visible on the sides of the frame as well as the grip straps. 75% original case colors remain on the hammer. The grips are excellent with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
