Description:

While tap action pistols with two barrels are not uncommon, those with three or more certainly are. The barrels are numbered 1-4 respectively starting with the left side, and the breech is correspondingly numbered. The bottom at the breech has pre-1813 Birmingham private proof and view marks. The left side of the action is signed "Ketland/& Co." in script, and "London" is on the right. There is some light border, drapery, and floral engraving. The pan has two positions, and it is equipped with a sliding half-cock safety that holds the frizzen closed.

Rating Definition:

Very good with a mix of bright surfaces and mottled gray patina and pitting, crisp engraving, and scratches and marks on the otherwise very good wood, including hammering type marks on the butt. Mechanically excellent.
