Offered here is one of no more than 50-75 New Model No. 3 Revolvers manufactured with an 8 inch barrel and target sights. The left side of the barrel has the caliber marking "44 S&W CTG." Caliber marked New Model No. 3s are rarely encountered. The barrel rib is stamped with the one-line address. Matching serial numbers are on the butt, right grip, cylinder, barrel and barrel latch. The New Model No. 3 was the first revolver offered by S&W with factory target sights.

Excellent, retaining 90% original blue finish overall with thinning to a patina on the balance. Most of the original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger guard. The original black rubber grips are excellent with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. A high conditioned New Model No. 3 Target Revolver with ultra rare 8 inch barrel missing from even the most advanced S&W collections. A must have for the serious S&W collector.
