The included Westley Richards authentication certificate and copy of the original manufacturing ledger page identify the rifle by serial number and list its date of manufacture as 1912. This highly embellished double rifle features blued, dovetailed barrels marked "WESTLEY RICHARDS./LONDON" on the right and left respectively and "PIR TAJMAHOMED" on the smooth concave rib. The markings are in gold inlay. Elevated beaded blade with flip up hood front and five-leaf (one standing, four folding) rear notch sights marked respectively out to 500 yds. with a folding tangent sight incorporating an adjustable ladder up to 1000 yds. with platinum inlaid sighting lines. The barrels have Brimingham nitro proofs forward of the block and are marked "256 EX" and "CORDITE 31-160 MAX". The barrels also feature wedges of fine engraving at the muzzle and breech with gold inlaid scroll accents and a doll's head rib extension. The casehardened, hand detachable, drop lock action features full coverage fine scroll engraving with gold inlaid scroll accents and deep relief scenes of a tiger on the right and a lion on the left. With dual triggers, automatic tang safety with bolted safety lock, and matching engraved and gold inlaid trigger guard. Fancy fleur-de-lis checkered forearm with horn tip and engraved and gold inlaid fittings, Deeley latch, and pistol grip stock with engraved horn grip cap, inset blank gold initial plaque, raised cheekpiece, and solid rubber recoil pad. With leather and oak takedown case with new Westley Richards interior trade label and box (quantity 20) of Dynamit-Nobel 6.5x54 mm ammunition. Stock measurement: length of pull 14 1/2 inches; weight 8 lbs. 12 oz.

Exceptional. The barrel exhibits an old, probably, factory refurbish which has pleasantly aged to an overall plum/brown, complete gold inlays, some light edge wear and spotting at the muzzle. The receiver shows strong original cases colors slightly muted with age but vibrant in flashes, fine, detailed engraving, complete gold inlays, and only slight handling marks. The wood is fine with well defined, mildly worn checkering, small dings and bruises, and some visible over runs in the checkering and borders. Mechanically excellent. Case is about good with scuffs and dings throughout, interior tears and staining, and storage wear. A spectacular Westley Richards double rifle from the golden era that would be hard to improve upon.
