Manufactured in 1884 as a third model with integral dust cover rail and dust cover with serrated rear edge. The accompanying factory letter lists this rifle with an octagon barrel in .32 caliber, plain trigger and special order half magazine when received in the warehouse on September 1, 1884, and shipped on September 3. Dovetail Marble No. 2 blade front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight, two-line address/patent dates marking and "32-Cal" on the barrel, "32 CAL" on the cartridge elevator, "MODEL 1873" on the upper tang and straight grip stock with solid crescent buttplate.

Very good. The receiver and barrel retain 30% original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. There are a few areas of minor pitting. Patterns of original case color remain on the hammer and lever. The forend cap and buttplate retain most of the period refinished nickel plating. The wood is very good with some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
