The manufacturer confirmed that this rifle was completed on 11 April 1933 for Manton & Co. of Calcutta. It is noted as being 510 grade with Westley Richards snap lever work and 26 inch chopperlump barrels with a sunken rib. Blued chopperlump barrels signed "WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO., LONDON" on the concave rib and engraved "W.R. .425 CARTRIDGE" and "410 GRS. BULLET" on the barrels, raised matted quarter rib with scroll engraved ramp and doll's head extension fitted with rear sight of one fixed and two folding leaves graduated from "50" to "150" yards and each with platinum inlaid center line, block mounted bead front sight with flip up moon sight and hinged tunnel cover, and Birmingham nitro proof marks for .425 2.65" with 65 grs. Cordite and 410 gr. bullet. Casehardened side lock action signed "WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO." on each lock with gold inlaid cocking indicators, gold colored firing pin bushings respectively marked "R" and "L", profuse best quality border and scroll engraving throughout, blued top lever and automatic safety with gold inlaid "SAFE" and blued manual safety bolt with gold inlaid "BOLTED", double triggers, the front trigger checkered, blued trigger guard . Well figured pistol grip stock with raised cheekpiece, checkered grip and forearm with dark horn tip, a silvered vacant initial oval, casehardened pistol grip cap with hinged trap cover, two blued sling mounts, and a 3/4 inch Manton & Co. ventilated rubber recoil pad. In maker's brass cornered oak and leather fitted case lined in dark green interior with gilt letter leather Westley Richards trade label. Stock measurements: length of pull 14 1/2 inch; weight 11 lbs. 6 oz.

Very fine as partially period refurbished with 98% of the blue remaining on the barrels and other blued components. The action and locks retain 90% of the original casehardened finish with crisp engraving throughout. Stock is very fine with some minor storage blemishes throughout. Mechanically excellent. Case exterior is slightly worn with some staining and scratches, partially repaired lining, and the name panel in lid replaced with a blank piece of leather. Provenance: Robert M. Lee Collection.
