Description:

The accompanying factory letter indicates the revolver originally left the factory with a 7 1/2 inch barrel in .44-40 caliber, blue finish, and hard rubber grips when shipped to J.P. Moores Sons, New York City, on August 26, 1884. The revolver was later embellished by renowned Master Engraver Philip Quigley in the 21st century. A letter from Quigley (copy) confirms the engraving was accomplished by him, done in the period style of Nimschke and Helfricht. According to the included copy of an affidavit of origin, the grip material was obtained in 1970. The revolver is plated in 24k gold, has fiery blue small parts, and features an extensive 19th century Colt factory style engraving. Quigley signed his work on the front of the frame. Quigley continues to craft one-of-a-kind masterpieces and his work is found in world famous collections such as the Autry Museum of Western Art, National Civil War Museum and NRA Collection.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall as Master embellished by noted Engraver Philip Quigley, retaining 99% plus of the gold plating with slight handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
