This is a fine example of a late production 1903A4 sniper rifle that was manufactured in early 1944, and was subsequently arsenal refurbished, possibly for the Vietnam conflict. The receiver is stamped with: "U.S. REMINGTON MODEL 03-A3" and serial number (4994835) on the right. The barrel is marked "R.A./flaming bomb/1-44" and correctly lacks the front sight. The receiver is fitted with a Redfield marked, one-piece scope base fitted with a set of shims under the front of the base, with the screws, staked in place. The base is fitted with a WWII, all blued, 2.5 x Weaver M73B1 marked sniper scope. The nomenclature plate is stamped: "Telescope M73B1" over the four-line Weaver address information with the serial number "33929" etched on top of the plate. The rifle is fitted with the correct stamped style trigger guard and barrel band and it has the correct 1903A4 sniper rifle bolt, stamped with a "R" mark on the underside of the bolt handle. The rifle is fitted with a late war scant grip walnut stock, that is stamped with faint "RA/Cross-cannon ordnance proof/FJA" on the left side with the subinspector stamps in front of the trigger guard. There is a boxed "RIA/EB" rebuild cartouche on the left rear side of the butt. The pistol grip area is stamped with a single small circled "P" proof. It comes with a WWII, "BOYT/44" stamped leather sling and a set of leather lens caps.

Very fine with 95% of the late gray arsenal reparkerized finish overall with edge and high spot wear. The sanded, reoiled stock is in very good condition with overall with minimal handling marks and scratches with visible cartouches on the side with a deep rebuild cartouche towards the rear of the stock. The scope retains 85% of its blued finish overall with clear sharp markings with a very small light partial rust ring on the outside, about 2 inches back from the front edge of the scope. The scope reticle is intact and the optics are clear.
